Breeding Farm Training Program Details

Breeding Farm Training Programs those preparing for a career in equine reproduction, training, showing or marketing, an opportunity to gain hands-on experience. Breeding Farm Training Programs will give you hands-on experience, including active participation in the breeding process, marketing and client relations.

Gain a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of the Thoroughbred, Standardbred or Sporthorse breeding, as well as sales, which may include breeding, foaling, working with young horses, training and marketing. Through a Breeding Farm Training Program, you will learn about collecting stallions, preparing semen, and inseminating mares. You will also assist in foaling, imprinting and halter breaking foals, starting young horses in ground work and under saddle, and showing/sales. Most Breeding Farm Training ProgramsĀ are a full year in length.

  • Daily care of horses
  • Feeding
  • Turnout
  • Cleaning stalls
  • Assisting veterinarian and blacksmith
  • Some foaling
  • Sales preparation of horses for private sale and public auction
  • Grooming and exercise programs
